By the time the Transformer war on earth started, the Decepticons had all but won the war. The Decepticons built an immense space fleet to conquer worlds throughout the galaxy. Numerous factions were created to preserve a command structure in their ranks.

One such faction was called the Intercepticons. This faction focused on transatmospheric attack plans that specialized in speed. At first, they were merely a security force who were able to chase down targets and escort vessels. They possessed the latest technology and most expensive equipment.

The Intercepticons tended to recruit the aggressive. They became a very eager bunch indeed. Eventually, they answered all situations that called for quick military interdiction. The Intercepticons became the "first-strike" Decepticons. They were first to arrive on the scene; the first to answer the challenge. They were still vanguards and forward scouts. But they were usually the leading element in any conquest.

Intercepticon forces swelled and groups became more specialized. Some squadrons specialized by function like reconaissance or covert operations. Squadrons were even formed along gender lines. Female Intercepticon squadrons were formed. Such wings became their own sub-faction, the Lady Intercepticons.

One elite band of mercenary Lady Intercepticons keep finding themselves in the affairs of earthsphere and thus represent a "Clear and Present Danger" to the Autobots and Maximals at Sister City.
