Octal was born at a Maximal science outpost on an oceanic planet known as Deluvia. During school, she'd often stray to explore Deluvian wonders like the perpetual falls of the floating island or the chemicoluminescent vapor-people of Atlandra.
A wanderer and an explorer. Also a black-sheep of the family, she longed to return to Cybertron. While on a quest through the frozen atolls of Hydron, she found shimmering pool that was actually a spacial warp-gate that could transport her back and forth from Deluvia to a system near Cybertron. Saying her good-byes to her friends and family, she gathered her collection and voyaged home. She managed to trade some curiosities for passage back to her home-world. Smuggled past Cybertron's moderate defenses, she landed just before the Great Reformatting.
The Oracle transformed her from a Deluvian cephalopod into a vaguely earthen cyber-organic octopus.
Like the octopus, Octal can squeeze in and out of tight places. This is due to several specializations from her cephalopod form. She has no skeletal structure. Instead, she has cyber-organic musculature throughout her body. Some of her exterior armor plates are either flexible or hinged to muscles. These allows her to compress and contort her body to fit into cramped spaces or pass through small openings. Her network of internal muscles makes her surprisingly durable, she can submerge to extreme depths that would crush other sea-worthy Maximals.Her tentacles are strong and can conduct a short but intense paralytic shock. Her octopus mode also allows her to emit an electrostatic mist to cover her retreat. For further disguise, she can change her skin tone at will to several shades of blue.
Her "typhoon attack" consists of a tornado of energy that knocks back everyone in the vacinity. With this attack, she can also channel a blast of twisting water that can cut thru thin or weak armor. She can also achieve decent concussive force with wind or in sand.
She carries a series of limpet mines with various charges. Some are shaped charges that she can affix to a rock's fracture point or in the chink of someones armor. Some mines can enhance gravity around the target and sink it or crush it. Timed penetrator mines are useful against ships and submersibles. Some of her limpet charges are so explosive that they can, with proper placement, force gestalts to seperate from their combined form.
She searches Cybertron's flooded ruins and vast subterranean seas for sunken artifacts and trinkets. Her home is an ancient sunken battleship. There, she stores her collection of marvelous devices and expensive baubles. She surfaces periodically to trade with merchants and search coastal pawn shops. Octal often travels to Junkion to trade and search their rich oceans.
Has an affinity for sparkly, dazzling objects.
She also carries her "bag of tricks" which is a subspace satchel of objects with various abilities. Very resourceful and has fought her way out of many a difficult situation. A loner, she relies on her own salty savvy.
Her social contacts consist of merchants, traders, pirates, and other fellow collectors. She enjoys finding out the stories of peoples lives attached to each treasures she finds.
She enjoys return visits to Deluvia. She especially enjoys the company of her musically talented younger sister, Octavia. Once in a while, she will drop in to check up her older brother, Octahedron, who is a Transformer with eight forms!
Stumbling thru sunken pirate ship's crew logs, she discovered she has ancestry with Seacon Pirateers from the Golden Age of Cybertron.

My own creation. She's a Beast Machine Maximal octopus. Her tentacles become her hair!
Early Octal rough sketches of her robot mode
and octopus mode. She had some inspiration from Skylla
from Beast Wars 2 (female squid who drove the TakoTank). Curiosity came from
the adventurous Ariel (Disneys: "The Little Mermaid"). But she has an independent
confidence about her. She's not the social type. She's pretty serious about her
collecting.
