Markatron's character development commentary:

Subject: Armor Iron Clad (Iron Clad + Armordillo)

The "TAO GI!" usage (instead of the "Armor Up" cry) is a reference to a cartoon (imported anime) that showed up in the US a few years back. Perhaps most of you guessed it: "Ronin Warriors". "TAO GI!" is what Kento of Hardrock used to claim his armor. How fitting that Kento's color was orange. :)

The problem with obscure characters, it's hard to come up with a theme to use. Well, when I thought about Kento, I figured I'd give Iron Clad a samurai theme. This not only resulted in a really fun pose, it lended itself well to her armor form.

In keeping with the Japanese warrior theme, Armor Iron Clad becomes an armored Ninja! The hefty armor only adds to her lethal abilities instead of encumbering her. Armordillo wears the lightest yet strongest alloy armor but under that armor, anti-gravity threads run throughout the structure.

Purists may note that Ninja didn't wear armor, the Samurai did. I don't know. However, I wanted her armor form to be Ninja. Yes, I could have had Iron Clad be the Ninja who becomes Samurai Armor Iron Clad. But I felt the Ninja to signify more deadlier form. And certainly, these two together were deadly.

In any case, Armor Iron Clad turned out to be very rewarding because both her normal form and armored look great. And I really love the poses I gave them. I liked the idea of having both her katana join to become a double-bladed staff.

Armordillo is loaded down with missile launchers and four mortar lauchers that lob shells at great distances. A ground assault vehicle. Useful against ground-based targets. Missiles do provide some land-to-air offensive capability. Travel's slowly (the direct converse to Iron Clad's dragster vehicle form). Yes, the proverbial tortoise and the hare.

Armordillo obviously splits to provide the layered shoulder armor. This idea was slightly taken from the villan gestalt in the Voltron Movie (original cartoon series movie where both Voltron's team up -- very cool). The armadillo split to become these huge blocks of shoulder pads. But Armordillo adds several more features. The back legs form missile packs on her hips. Bulbs on these missile packs are actually "beam sabers". Front leg shields are missile pods that mount near her head. The frills at each side of the animal become chest armor. Finally, the tail becomes a mace (stowed in the picture above).
